starting a new job, advice?

Published

I am starting my first job as a new grad on monday! im excited/nervous about it. I am trying to prep myself for things i should be asking while orienting and notes i should be taken because my orientation is only 2 weeks long. One week of shadowing and one week of hospital training. I want to make sure I start my new job off right and get the most out of my orientation.

So far i have come up with:

-asking about common medications given so that i can look them up on my own time

-what is included in an assessment

-asking about time managment and prioritization ( i have been told new nurses need to work on these two areas)

any other ideas i would really appreciate it!

thanks!

Good luck and best wishes on your new job

I have sent you a pm.

Congratulations! Wow, two weeks? What unit will you be working on? My advice would be to absorb as much as you can during the two weeks then make a mental list of the competent, smart, compassionate nurses on your unit who you can feel comfortable using as a resource when you have questions. Best of luck to you!
