Starting at Jersey College, Jacksonville May 2016

Published

Opinions, please! Has anyone attended Jersey College lately? I haven't seen any new posts recently and was wondering about reviews/ experiences?

I do not mind if it is unorganized or requires self-teaching... I just need an RN license stat while my husband is in CRNA school and can not work as I will be the sole earner. Any and all reviews appreciated!

Has anyone who graduated from there tried to go on to RN-BSN program? If so, have you had a hard time with schools accepting your Jersey College degree? Thanks for your help!

I've heard great things about Jersey College!

I got accepted into the Lpn program for the April 4th 16 start date but I recently changed my mind. I now will be attending the RN May 16th class in Jacksonville. I am also interested in knowing about anyone's current experiences

How's everything going? I would like to hear some reviews. I'm applying for Aug 16 Generic RN

Honestly, I cant say that I am 100% satisfied with the school as a whole. All the reviews were true. They have great staff members and everyone pretty much knows each other but they are very unorganized.

1. Classrooms change and you dont know till you actually get there. The staff doesn't know, the teachers dont know, they pretty much wing it.

2. You have NO WAY of knowing your grades. They dont use blackboard or any such system of following your progress. The test are sent to corporate in Jersey after you test and grade may come back in 2 weeks, then you have to schedule an appt to review your test. By then, you've had other test to take without knowing what you missed on the prior exam.

3. There is a risk of not learning much! There is a lot of self teaching. The teachers dont make the test, corporate does...so you don't know what to study.

4. If you're taking a test, you have to stay in the testing room until the last person finishes...if you have to leave b4, points are deducted...if you need to go to the restroom after you're done, you have to be escorted by a staff member. Smh! You cant have your car keys on you, phone, watch, jewelry...NOTHING! They make you take everything off at the door to put in a bin on the table. Don't ask me why!

5. There's no professionalism in the school. Its super ghetto..even with high authority staff members.

6. No student has an email address...unless its your personal one. So its hard to ask questions or even communicate with your teachers. Ex. The didn't have the dates, times, or location of the midterms until maybe 4 days b4 the test. Finally they posted the exam schedule around the school (they dont email students this info) however I wasn't on campus because I wasnt scheduled to be b4 my exam...so I called to asked and a high authority staff member answered and told me the day of the exam...I asked what time it was, she replied with "I mean the scheduled is posted on the restroom door...Im not gonna get up and walk all the way over there just to see!" I was so appalled! I couldnt believe that! I live an hour 45mins away from the school..I couldnt just drive up there to see. She wouldn't help me though. I just hung up!

Note: Im not giving the bad review because Im failing, Im actually passing all 4 classes with either high Bs or even A's, I wouldn't know bc theres no way of seeing grades. I giving my honest opinion!

Now if you're looking for something easy to get in to, , this will be good for you. Dont expect too much though. It may not be worth it!

I dont think the work is that hard...yet...but Im hoping it gets better the 2nd semester because I will actually be taking classes that i am not familiar with.

They have great resources to ensure you're learning something, just maybe not whats on the final or midterms.

Wow are you doing Days or Evenings? I'm kind of scared now because I just want a good education.

Days buts its pretty much the same all the way around. My teacher just quit and today we have no teacher and it puts us behind 4 chapters and we have an exam on the 15th lol. The Chair had to come in the last 20mins of class today to try and make up for it. Shes great tho

Omg that's terrible I'm also considering keiser as a better Option. Gees are you in the LPN or RN program. Also do you know about clinical sites yet?

Keiser is waaaayyyy better. The credits transfer and its only 16 months vs 24 months. Keiser also accepts transfer credits. Jersey accepts only 4 specific classes. Im in the RN program. It's not gonna matter tho bc the same teachers teach all the courses just about. Its not a big school and its fairly new so the dont have everything ironed out yet. Id suggest Keiser if ur tryna get in quick vs Fscj or a University.
