I have just taken over the Restorative program at the nursing home where I work. The Restorative program was barely exsistant, my question is, are there anyone that I can contact for tips on building a program, or even better a news letter or updates that can be sent to me?

I too am starting from ground. I asked for information such as this a while back(august?) and received no information. Had to get it all on my own, glad to share...
What I recommend you to do is ....
Get in touch with your MDS person, see if she can find out who else in your area actively fills out the section P of the MDS, which Nursing rehab is based on.
The MDS is another specialty, which NR is a good basis for running from.
Read the MDS manual for section P, as it has great information for what requirements are.
I have also found these few pieces of information helpful:
Mapping the literature of rehabilitation Nursing by Mark Spasser, PhD, AHIP
RehabPerspectives Sponsored by aegis Therapies http://www.ageistherapies.com
Restorative Bursing and the MDS by Marjorie Ray, RN, Washington
a power point seminar that can be DL's fromt he web
and a research grant by Barbara Resnick, PhD @ university of Maryland
Testing a Restorative Care Nursing Program which was run from 2002-2007.
You can also check NYASHA ProCare for REstorative Nursing seminars, tehy avhe some and are very good. I attended one in October.
I found all of this by Goodsearch.com powered by Yahoo! keying in different terminologies learned from each new piece of information I found.
I'll be watching your link to see what else you get!
good luck, and if you come up with anything, let me know.
