I just have a few question for the experienced. I"m 29 married with three kids and going to be starting college for first time in january. I will continue to work part time, because of the obvious financial obligations. But i've been doing some research on anesthetist school and they discourage working at all. Does anyone know if there is any type of loans that i could get to would allow me to still have some kind of financial income for my family while i'm in school. If there's anyone else who was in this same situation, let me know how you managed. I greatly appreciate the advice and thank you in advance for the help.

My buddy said that he was able to get like $35,000 his first year and I've heard of some getting as much as $50,000/yr during school. It all depends on where you go for your money. I think the government will give you like $18,000/yr - unsubsidized. If I am wrong on this stuff, I hope someone will answer and straighten me out too. Good Luck in your studies and remember, if you really want it and God really wants it for you, it will happen. Just keep focused and abide by the 3 S's ---Show up, Shut up, and Suck it up. This will help you a lot!!Derek

How the heck do you pay it all back? Are there sign on bonuses for CRNA's?Yes Mummer. From what I know of the job opportunities available for CRNA's, most prospective employers offer sign-on bonuses b/c they know you will be looking for money to pay off student loans. I think this offer is always negotiable with employer, but some are set. I am beginning to learn more about this, but for now I'm going to focus on school and learning all I need to for getting that good job and being the best at what I do. Knowledge is power!!

Loans, government and or private are the basic mode. You will then find after you have been admitted that you have achieved a new level of popularity. Everyone suddenly becomes interested in your future. Significant money may be offered to you from anyone of many sources in return for a time commitment.
My program's fees are lower than my financial aid payment, so this cash can be used to get you through some rough spots. If your spouse could pick up a part time job somewhere, it would help. Find an anesthesia group to take you under their wing. After they have invested in you, they don't want to see you fail, financially or otherwise. Minimize your expenses. Get a cheaper car, refi you house to 30 years, start buying generic peanut butter. It's really not that bad. You will be focused on your goal, and will barely noice that your PB and J sandwich tastes like toenails :stone
To add some credibilty to my advice I am also married with 3 kids, all young ones.
Good luck

Does anyone know how long, on average, it takes to back your loans for CRNA school? I'm sure it probably varies, so maybe you guys can post your personal experiences.
