Hey fellas, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a 30 year old male, husband and father to a two year daughter. I'm leaving education to start a new career in nursing. I had originally started out as a pre-med student out of high school, when I was 18, but was overwhelmed with trying to juggle being an athlete, majoring in Bio/Pre-med, and probably having more of a social life than I should have had. Anyway, I did pretty lousy through four semesters of undergrad, so I came home (being away at college for the first time, probably didn't help) changed majors at a different univ., matured academically and got focused and graduated with a B.A. in history/sec. ed. Here I am almost seven years down the line, and while I feel the experience I recieved in education is invaluable, I no longer feel excited to remain in education, and have now returned to my original passion, which is healthcare. I'm so excited inside about nursing and the possibilities, and I cannot wait to get started. Did any of you guys feel that rush of adrenaline right before you started back to school for nursing, and how do you channel it so that you maintain that enthusiasm right through into your first RN jobs and beyond?

Congrats and good luck. What kind of program are you entering? I'm sure the adrenalin rush will wear off quickly and you will get into the swing for the longer haul. I take every day as it comes and treat this whole process as a journey rather than a goal at the end of 3 years.

I start my CNA course in 6 days! Kinda scared, but excited at the same time.
Good luck!
Hey guys,
I started an ADN program a couple of weeks ago...so far, so good. The surge of excitement that I have been feeling has leveled off into a definite focus..it only took a couple of classes! I'm taking a general bio class right now. It's basic stuff, but wow..it's all crammed into six weeks of summer! I'd like to get into critical care when I graduate, I'm taking it one step at a time..literally one assignment at a time, one week at a time......
