I start working on the floor tomorrow. Oh my gosh. I'm sooooo scared! :sofahider I officially started on Monday, but had three days of classes. Tomorrow I'll be starting on my unit (MICU Step Down) with my preceptor. I'll be praying for many things tonight: Wisdom , a guardian angel to watch over me and my patients , a good preceptor (LOL), a sixth sense, and patience with myself. Why oh why, did I pick such a hard floor??????

Cindy,
You are exactly right to pray for a good preceptor. IMHO, a good preceptor makes all the difference in the world for a new grad. Just try to relax, don't be afraid to ask questions, and be confident in yourself!
Good luck

You picked such a hard floor because you know that someday you will be up to the challenge Good luck on your first day on the floor. It does get easier and less scary as time goes by. I am on my 10th week of orientation and it has gotten easier and sometimes I leave work with a big and wonder that I actually get paid to care for these people for a while and try to make their days a little less scary, too.
