when should i start applying for a job?

Nurses Career Support

This is my last year in my BSN program and all of my other classmates are talking about how they already have jobs lined up. I want to work at Mission hospital in Asheville, but i don't know if they will give me a job already without having even graduated or passed boards. I haven't worked as a CNA although I have a level 2 certificate. Does this look bad? I have a good GPA and good reviews from my faculty. I guess what I really want to know is when should i start applying for jobs? any input will be most helpful

thanks

Call their Nurse Recruiter and ask them. Ask them what there preferred timetable is. Whatever anybody else says on this listserve is not nearly as important as what the hospital itself prefers.

I really mean that advice to be friendly and helpful -- not as a smart-alec response. I am always amazed (and disappointed) how many students will ask eveyone for advice EXCEPT the people who actually have the information. The hospital's Nurse Recruiters have no motivation to lie to you. They want to recruit next year's graduating class of new nurses. Give them a call and give them a chance to help you.

Good luck,
