Hello everyone! I'm a new grad RN who will be starting with HCA Treasure Coast's August 29th StaRN Nurse Residency cohort! I'll be working at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in the Progressive Care Unit at the conclusion of the program. I wanted to find others who will be in the cohort and also anyone who works at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Florida for some insight! I'm nervous but also eager to start my career!

@CrystalUMiami hello there! I just wanted to know how did the StaRN program work for you? Do you feel like they prepared you enough for your assigned floor?
Hey! Yes I'm currently have 4 weeks of preceptorship before I'm on my own and I have to say StaRN is really worth it!! The skills and simulation helped me the most I feel like I went into the hospital more relaxed than if I hadn't had any residency. My floor is supposedly the hardest unit in the hospital and has a reputation but I don't feel like anything I'm doing is exceptionally difficult or the patients are difficult because I got a routine down again due to StaRN. The only bad thing about the program is the pay is lower than others but other than that I have a jib and I'm still learning so I have to praise it!
That does sound great! What unit are you working on if you don't mind me asking?
I'm on Progressive Care which is an ICU stepdown
Wow, PCU? I can see how the residency would be a God send. Thank you so much for answering! Good luck!
