Staffing

Nurse patient ratios. I work in rehab/LTC. Is 15 patients/nurse reasonable for days, 22 for nights reasonable?

It's the standard, according to many nurses who work in LTC. Is it reasonable? That would depend on how much support staff you have and what your responsibilities are. Since many LTCs have CNAs to complete the ADLs and Med Techs to give the majority of medications, it might be reasonable some days. It also might not be, depending on acuity. You can also check your state regulations and see if this ratios is consistent with their minimum requirements. My assumption, since the facility wants to stay in business, is that it is. http://theconsumervoice.org/uploads/files/issues/Harrington-state-staffing-table-2010.pdf
