I start LPN school in the fall, and we are supposed to take 4 classes:
Fundamentals of Nursing I
Med/Surg I
A&P I
Intro to Algebra
I already am taking Algebra this summer. I thought it would be really difficult and I wanted to get it out of the way, but as it turns out, I probably should have taken a more advanced math because I spend 80% of the class helping other students with their work.
I am also starting a part time job next week at the hospital, 45 min away. Its a bit of a drive (school is also 45 min away) but I'm very excited about it.
So my question is this... should I replace the Algebra w/ another class that is not in conflict w/ my nursing courses? Or should I just leave the space in my schedule to make sure I have enough time?
I do have plans to continue on to a bridge program and have already applied and gotten my list of pre-reqs from them that I could start working on.
If I could take something, what kind of class should I take? The pre-reqs I still need are:
Humanities
College Algebra or Statistics (both of which require an Int. Alg after what I have...but I'm thinking I might be able to skip that since I think I was in the wrong class this semester)
Microbiology (I think I need A&P first though)
Eng Comp 1 and 2
Public Speaking (think I need Eng 1 first)
It almost seems like my bridge program is going to take a full 2 years anyways for some reason, but oh well. Atleast I can take these at my discretion instead of having another 2 full years of full time days only.
I was going to edit and make it shorter but then realized I can't edit after a few minutes pass.... so forgive my lengthy over informative post.
What I really want to know is...
1) is it hard enough that I should be happy to have 3 classes instead of 4? (per state statistics only 1/2 of the 2007 class passed but they all passed their NCLEX - but I'm a good student)
2) if it isn't so hard that I should avoid that 4th class, is there any class/class type that I should take/avoid? (i.e. hubby said I should avoid anything w/ a lab)
