Has anyone worked as a RN in the US Virgin Islands, either in St. Croix at Juan F Luis Hospital or in St. Thomas at Roy Lester Schneider Hospital? How are these hospitals with hiring new RN grads (with a BSN but no RN experience)?
I have worked as a nursing assistant for 2 years now on a trauma med-surg unit at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. I will be graduating from Drexel University in June. My boyfriend of 2+ years is in the airforce and is looking to be stationed in the USVI. I was wondering my chances of finding a RN job as a new nursing BSN grad with no RN experience?
If we were to move to the USVI from Philadelphia we would be there after July 2015 when I take my NCLEX. I am trying to weigh the pros & cons of moving to a distant place when I am just starting my career as a RN. I have looked at RN job listings in the USVI, and other hospitals on the mainland, and all want an applicant with "experience". How true to their word are they on this "criteria". I do have a potential RN position lined up with the unit I work on now as an assisant so I need to really consider; having a set RN job or taking a chance and struggling to get a RN job somewhere else
