Southeastern College Miami Lakes LPN - RN

Published

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has any reviews or feedback on this school. It was formerly Keiser Career college and Southeastern just recently bought this campus. The tuition is hefty, around 9k a semester but that includes books, uniforms, clinical supplies, drug/background screening.

The passing rate for NCLEX was 100% for the last LPN to RN class.

Has anyone been to this school for their LPN or RN? I am enrolled and supposed to start pharm Nov... They do one class at a time for a month.

I need advice on this school please! Help! I hear not so great things about Keiser from a professionals working in the field...

Also taking microbiology online? It is an option here... is that realistic?

I am starting Oct 28th for the LPN program... I would like some feedback too. I finally did my financial aid yesterday, cant wait to start!!

Hey did you ever go with this school? I am in the RN program starting this June... I am currently taking micro online.. this is my last week thank god!!

To answer you question, I went to this school and graduated. I was a paramedic and graduated with a 3.4 GPA and I was given the award at my pinning for spirit of nursing. I also passed the NCLECX a few weeks ago first time. I ended with 265 questions. This school has its good things and its flaws. The good thing is that you have one class a month which allows you to focus on one class at a time. Unlike other schools you are taking 4 classes in a semester. That is a lot of information to absorb all over the place. I had some great teachers who knew how to teach and made it interesting and I had some that did not do so well, so be prepared to learn on your own. You go to school twice a week and you have hospital rotations twice a week , so you are off 3 days out of the 7 day week which to me was good. Another good thing is that southeastern college has a 92% pass rate for the nclex which to me was awesome and I am proof of that. If you show that you care and want to do better, the staff will help you. The flaws are that you have to show up on time for hospital rotations. If you are one minute late, you will be sent back to campus , need to do case studies on evolve at the campus and still have to make it up. If you don't make it up, you fail the class and have to wait 3 months to take the class again. You are allowed one day to miss class, if you miss another day, you fail the class and have to wait 3 months. if you are late 4 times you will fail the class. You are allowed to be late 3 times for each class. So it is either one missed day or 3 tardies. Another thing is that you have a research paper every single month. If you don't do it, you will fail the class and have to wait 3 months. You need to score higher than 75. If you go under 75, you have to rewrite it. You have group presentations every month so you need to get along with the people in your class. If not, it will be chaotic. Another thing is that you have HESI's every month starting on your 5th month. They are 15% of your grade so it is in your best interest to pass it once. They allow you to take it 3 times. If you fail it the third time , you will get a 0. People have passed the class without the HESI but by a string and you don't want to be in that predicament. When you get to the HESI exit exam, if you don't pass it with a 900 by the third time, you have to repeat the class (which is leadership, your last class). I only failed the fundamentals and MED SURG Hesi. I passed all of the other ones the first time including the exit. It is one year long, I started October 28, 2013, finished October 22, 2014 and attended pinning November 25, 2014 and took my NCLEX December 2, 2014. My school as its benefits but at the same time it has its flaws. It was a lot of hard work and this program is doable. I did not work while I was in school. I am currently looking for work now as a nurse and I suggest that if you want to be successful in this program, you should not work. To help you prepare you for HESI , you should use these two websites. I used them and got through them.

Here is my speech at pinning, hopefully it gives you some encouragement. Let me know if this answers your question.
