Southeast Ga. nursing questions

U.S.A. Georgia

Hi-

We are considering a move to Southeast GA, or Jacksonville Florida. Any advice about where to live or work? How's the nursing situation in the state of Ga.?

There is not much of a need for nurses in southeast georgia. Jacksonville, Florida would be a better bet. Southeast Georgia is a nice place to live. I live in Southeast Georgia and commute to Jacksonville to work. It is about a 40 min drive to where I work. The schools are not bad in Southeast Georgia. I am not sure how they are in Jacksonville as I do not have any children. In Jacksonville, Shands is not a good place to work. Staffing is not good. Very high nurse to pt ratio. I work for Baptist and I really enjoy it. I believe they are the only hospital in Jacksonville that is working toward Magnet status.

Hi debbieGA-

Thanks for the info! What are the pay and benefits like? (Insurance, holiday pay, overtime, hourly, etc.) Also, we are coming down to explore--do you have any suggestions as to where to look in GA?
