So young, but so confused!

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hey everyone,

I just finished my first year of college at the University if Miami here in Ohio. I have been all for Nursing for the past few yeaers, to make a long story short...my mother, myself and my two sisters were in an automobile accident in 2001, my youngest sister who was 9 at the time, almost lost both her arm and her leg. Luckily doctors were able to save both, but she is still scarred for life. She has major skin-graphs done to her arm and leg, and 10 surgeries later...she is doing well. She is still not able to ride a bicycle and probably never will be able to but her face is still beautiful and she is still herself, and we are very lucky to have her.

Anyway, i spent a lot of time at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital and really adapted well to the environment, I really felt comfortable there. So I decided to go to school for Nursing. Well with one year done, I am getting cold feet. Why? Well i feel as if I am never going to make it. Miami did not accept anybody into the program under a 3.6 Gpa and unfortunatly...that is not me. I do not have a BAD gpa but not a 3.6. So now I am trying to think of other careers that may interest me, but deep in my heart I really want to do Nursing just because I had such an inspiration in my life that made me want to do this in the first place. So now I am trying to cut corners...I am thinking of going to a local branch or a smaller junior college to get my LPN then go into a fast track RN program. Anyone done this? nyone recommend or not recommend doing it this way? I know I have plenty of time, I will be 20 in Sept. but I just want to get the ball rolling :roll and I just dont know what to do! Anyone have any advice? I dont want to screw around and do any EMT or medic school first, I want to start on my Nursing degree...but how do I get there? Thank you to all, I appreciate all your advice and God Bless! :angel2:
