...anybody ever do a 13 week assignment in Sitka? would i need a vehicle? other info would be helpful.

Here is a good place to start Welcome to Sitka, Alaska . Let us know how it is! I was looking at joining USPHS awhile back and applying for position there. It looks like a great place if you like the outdoors/fishing/hunting etc.

I did a phone interview with Sitka, very nice person that I talked to and very helpful and upfront regarding "island living". Sounds like a great place, small and beautiful. We didn't go yet either due to traveling in an RV with hubby and dog, I dont know if they still do but they have housing for traveler and a very low housing allowance. By the time we got our RV across via very it would have been expensive. But I am with you some day soon we're going to Alaska. Good Luck

My family and I just returned from the 7 day Alaskan tour on the Holland America Nordam. We spent a day in Sitka and took the sea life discovery by semi sub tour. It was awesome. The temperature was a cooler than what we were use to but not bad.
