Single parent struggling to become a Nurse! Help!

U.S.A. Arkansas

Published

I'm currently a resident in Arkansas and have found it very difficult to finally graduate and become an LPN. My local colleges are all about an hr away from me and I'm a single parent who has little help. While I was in school I lived off of my refunded grant money, but even that didn't help. I was driving 5 days a week for 2 hrs a day to make it to my local college where I would kill myself to get to school on time and back home to pick up my daughter from school. With the stress from this and financial problems everything just fell apart. Now, I need to pay back a portion of money to the school before I can attend once again which requires me to get a job.

I'm currently looking for a job, and I refuse to face the fact that this is an unattainable goal for me. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any online schools in Arkansas or any for that matter to help me become an LPN. I'm planning on just taking a few courses online while I work and after I'm done paying the money back I owe to the college I would like to attend campus classes once more. What I'm really needing is an online class for Anatomy & Physiology I&II with a lab, etc... I currently have Anatomy & Physiology, but without lab since I was previously a Health Information Technology Major.

Also, is there any advice on helping to pay for College? I do receive a pell grant and I had previously received the Academic Scholarship & Go Grant back in 2007 but lost that due to being hospitalized while I was pregnant.

Any help would be appreciated, I am a single parent to a disabled child who is struggling and I would like to have a stable career.
