Should I do an externship while I'm in school?

I am in a 2yr bsn program, so we have off till jan 26 but from then on we go straight till the end of august. I have a 3.9 gpa and I work 16hrs a week while I'm in school. I've done some research and the externship I would apply for allows you to work as many hours as you want, there is no requirement. Also, if I got the externship, it is paid and at the hospital I currently work, so I will just do the externship 16hrs, not work. I know they recommend externships during the summer, but during the summer I have classes. MedSurgeII to be exact

I wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts or advice about doing the externship.
