Hello all,
I am applying for the Fall 2015 asn program at Ivy Tech. Current point system is:
30 for an A in Aphy (B-20, C-10)
15 for Psych (B-10, C-5)
15 for English (B-10, C-5)
and an adjusted TEAS score which weighs Reading and Science at 30% and Math and English at 20%.
total of 160 points possible.
I am VERY nervous about not making into the program since everyone always talks about how impossible it is, and after taking the TEAS today I'm even more on edge.
My weighted score is 86.14 and I have all A's in my pre-reqs. So a total of 146/160 points.
Should I be considering retaking the TEAS? I did pretty badly in English somehow (76.7) but way better in science than I was expecting (83.3). I just cant seem to get a realistic idea of what a "good" score is.

After I took my test I was unsure if my score was good or bad, so I went straight to my advisor and he suggested that I retake it. So find an advisor on campus to ask. They know better than most what to do. I thought my total points would be ok, but he said my program is very competitive.
With the school I want to get into, they don't have a set score. They base admissions 59% of what you score on the teas test and then they take the average and post it for everyone to see. Last year's people's teas scores were averaged at 80.6% so that is why I'm happy with my 81.3%
My advisor said he wouldn't retake in my situation but I'm not sure if they're supposed to be a cheerleader, if that makes sense.
The advisor I'm sure is there to benefit the students as well as the school, so no not a cheerleaader. I think he's there to advise on what works best!

I emailed the Dean and asked with my TEAS if she'd recommend a retake or that I apply to both the ASN and LPN. She basically said (in not these exact words) that a score in the 80s is really good.

I go to Ivy Tech and an 80 is fantastic. And A's in the prereqs is good as well. I just turned in my applications for the fall semester. I go to the sellersburg campus, and there they take 40 people into the ASN program. I think you have a good shot.

I would email the advisor as well to see if they would advise a retake. It is dependent upon the school one is applying to how competitive the program is. Your scored excellent on the exam in my opinion.
