I'm a senior nursing student in a BSN program with a heavy community health emphasis... Next week, I'm scheduled to ride along with in-home visits with a hospice RN as part of my community clinicals.
Just here seeking any information, advice, "what to expect," etc, or whatever some experienced hospice folks would have to offer. I'm a little nervous. :)
Thanks!

You could experience just about anything and I'm sure that it will be a wonderful experience for you. We've had nursing students shadow with us and have had really positive feedback. You'll probably ride in the car with the nurse you are shadowing and you will have a better experience if you do. It will give you a chance to talk in between pt's. Good luck and don't worry!!

Enjoy shadowing with the hospice nurse. You can expect most anything from hospice as previously stated. But what I see most from hospice is the true compassion nursing is all about.
