Hello, Everyone. I'm a Senior Army ROTC Nursing Student and will be commisioning in May 2005. I wanted to find out which assignments/hospitals/bases did you like living and working at. I grew up in a city. I like having activities and other stuff to do, so a base with civilization around it is preferable. I already put in my assignments but was pretty much in the dark as to if I made the right choices. If this can't help me for my first assignment hopefully I can use if for my next and let other cadets know of their options. Is it better for a 2nd LT to start out in a small or a Large hospital. My Wish List:

1. Ft. Lewis, WA

2. Landstuhl, GER

3. Korea

4. Ft. Carson, CO

and I forget the order for the rest. Ft. sam Houston, TX; Ft. Hood, TX; Ft. Stewart, GA, Ft. Bragg; Ft. Sill and some other big FA base. (My long-term boyfriend and I did our assigments together. We're not engaged but are talking about it) Does the Army recognize engagements for Joint domicile requests. How easy is it to change assignments to be closer together? How long does it take for joint domicile requests to take place? Thank you for reading and any advice is greatly appreciated and needed.

It is better to start off at a larger facility. The hours are longer, but the variety of services is greater and your chances for personal growth is almost guaranteed.

Based on my expirence, and your desire to be near civilization, I would go with

1. Ft. Lewis, WA

2. Landstuhl, GER (Close to many FA assignments)

3. Ft. Sam Houston

No, we don't recognize engagements. That doesn't mean that we aren't flexable. I would communicate with Cadet Command and AN Branch during the next few months and make sure they know about your plans.

Good luck and welcome to the ANC
