Seeking Advice and Guidance for Pursuing Nursing

Published

Hello, my name is Anthony Paiz. I'm currently a student at a community college, on track to graduate this December as a Certified Medical Assistant with an associate degree.

Looking back, I never imagined I'd make it this far. After graduating high school in 2022, I felt lost and unsure about my path. At a friend's suggestion, I joined the Medical Assistant program. While I had doubts at first, learning skills like EKGs and injections ignited my passion for healthcare.

Despite this, the journey hasn't been easy. I struggled academically, often just barely passing with C grades. It wasn't due to a lack of effort—I've always had ambitious goals—but I've realized that something deeper is holding me back. I'm now working with a therapist and will see a psychiatrist soon to address these challenges.

I'm planning to start ADN prerequisites in Spring 2025 and am determined to excel. But self-doubt still lingers. Can I succeed in such a demanding program? Am I capable of thriving in nursing school, given my struggles in the Medical Assistant program?

As someone who has been through the Nursing program, I would love to hear your advice:

How did you overcome challenges and stay confident in your abilities?

Were there any strategies or resources that helped you master the material?

Any tips for balancing self-care with the demands of school?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I truly hope to follow in your footsteps and make a meaningful impact in the nursing field. Your insights would mean the world to me!
