security clearance interview

I got a call at work today and a contractor from OPM said he was doing my security clearance and I had to have an interview (it is scheduled for monday 2:30pm at the local IHOP) has anyone had this before or am I special. About a year ago the city in this little tiny town I lived in gave me a ticket because I didnt pay the $5 dog tag fee for a dog tag. They said my little 3 lb chihuahua needed a missouri rabies tag this was last july, roxy had just had her rabies shot in january in florida. I took roxy to the VET and asked for a rabies shot , he refused because she was already current and she was pregnant with puppies. I told the city about this and they said ok fine let us know when she gets another shot and register her then. I thought everything was ok then the town marshal that works 2 hrs a month for 8 bucks an hr. came and arrested me for possession of an unlicensed chihuahua. they took me to the county jail and let me out on 50 dollar bail. I pleaded no contest and paid the 150 dollar fine. the arrest and the case dont show up on any case.net or any computerized record. I told them about this on my application in detail. would they decide to kick me out because of this arrest and conviction of a municipal charge (not a misdemeanor not a felony) of possession of an unlicensed chihuahua.

I read that they go back 15 years or to the age of 18 whichever is first.

I just had my interview for my security clearance a couple of weeks ago. I met the agent at a library on a college campus and it was about my credit. He had a copy of my credit report and we went through each one step by step. I dont expect to hear from him again and he stated that the reason for my faults would be d/t raising kids in a single income household. This interview he stated was to assess whether I was a risk for potential attempts by enemy forces to bribe me. As I stated to him, "I've lost my home, my car....everything trying to do the right thing... I am not a risk I have nothing for them to try to bribe me about".

Anyway, good luck and let me know how it goes!

I also had one of these interviews and i never met with the interviewer again. We actually sat back and chatted after we went through my credit report about what college her daughter was going to as I was encouraging her to my alma mater. They went through my credit asked about any thing that was late or that I didn't know about.

Do they look into every aspect of our lives with these security clearances? What are the biggies?

I filed bankruptcy about a year ago.

apparently there are alot of middle age single moms that have similar issues. I know of several going through the same thing.

I have a couple dings on my record and I never got a call about anything. In fact, I found out I commissioned before my clearance came back!

Of course, I still have a current ENTNAC from when I was a civilian employee in 2002 - they're good for ten years. My guess is they went back no farther than that, since it only took sixty-seven days for my clearance to come back.

What branch is doing all these call backs? (Unless they looked at me and said, she's already been a sucker once, just let her back in? LOL)

Wow, such an example of bored, small-minded people in some of these tiny towns. Busy-bodies that love to get into people's business because they have nothing else to do & pick on the petty things....So frustrating! Don't get me wrong, I have lived in plenty of small towns/cities in my past when moving around, & there were awesome people there....but there's still those "others" :). You poor thing :( !!!

What aspects do they look up in security clearance process?

Will everyone have security clearance interview?

Do they contact or interview our reference people?

Thanks a lot

These questions should be answered by the entity that is doing the clearance process for you.

How long does it take to clear a background? I never knew they would send an investigator to interview you. Somehow this makes me a little uneasy. If they go back on my credit far enough it gets very scary!! Yikes!!

The investigation is dependent on a lot of things... how many other clearances are ahead of you or higher in priority, number of locations you have lived, availability of your references for interview, anything that requires additional time, it typically takes month(s) to process it all....
