Second interview tomorrow

Specialties Hospice

Hi All:

I have been called back for a second interview for PRN Case Mgr. Hospice RN. My first interview, quite awhile back, went over an hour. What on earth are they going to ask me this time? All posts and tips are appreciated.:)

Good Luck! I am also having my second interview tomorrow for crisis care hospice, and I am so nervous. I have been in dialysis for the past 3 years (yes, the hell-hole of nursing) and am so excited. This is what I have wanted for such a long time. What company are you interviewing with?

BTW, how did your interview go? And do you have any tips for me!

It went well, I got the job. They asked me about my skills-level in detail, created "what would you do in this case" scenarios, and explained orientation, their expectations and some company policy. Good luck to you! Why is dialysis "the hell hole of nursing"? I think that I have heard that about almost every nursing discipline except L&D and MB.:wink2:

Well, I had my interview this morning and also got the job. I am very excited. I'll start the second week of September. Dialysis isn't for everyone. I enjoyed the patients, and what I learned from there was exceptional, however it is becoming somewhat like a "cattle drive" Get them in, get them on, get them out, and get ready for the next shift, 3x day. 30 second assessments, and you're on to the next. Like most "for profit" ventures in the nursing world, it's becoming more about the $ and less about the patient, and what is best for the pt. But that's just my opinion. I hope that I will be able to continue at dialysis as a PRN, because I do enjoy the pts.

Congratulations! I know you are as happy as I am! What, exactly, is a crisis hospice? I have not come across this term. Is it freestanding or do you go to the home? Did you find your second interview was similar to mine?

As I understand it...and of course, I'm a baby at this, Crisis Care is 1/1 with the pt in his home 24/7 during the very last part of their life, when it is deemed that it will be very short term. or when they are in a "crisis" stage which requires 24/7. I believe (and again, the "baby" here is speaking) in most instances, I will be there when they pass. But that is just the impression I received during the interviews. Yes, my interviews seemed to be quite similar to yours. I think I will really like this job, and the company, and am quite excited. They said they wished they could clone me 5 times...I took that as a complement! And I was very surprised to receive an offer while I was there!
