Seattle Residencies: Virginia Mason vs Swedish

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi I’m a recent grad applying to residency positions in Seattle. I’m wondering if anyone has experience in either the Swedish or Virginia Mason New Grad RN Residency programs and had any insight to the structure/road map of each program? I’ve heard that Swedish’s is very structured, while VM’s is less so. The floors that are hiring at VM are more appealing to me, but a less structured residency program sounds a little worrisome. Any experiences or advice anyone has in relation to either would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Stephen,

I'm sure you have found out from experience by now. I am starting the new grad program Aug 10. I was told it is very structured and that I cannot go to school during the orientation period os 12 or 13 weeks. Kinda bummed about that. How has it been for you? What color scrubs do the RNs wear and are they provided by the hospital? Would like to know if I should buy scrubs now! Any info woild be appreciated.

Thank you!

Sabrina
