Hello,
I am happy to say after several long months I have an interview. I applied for a staff nurse position in LTC, when the director called she said she has floor positions and a staff developement position. I just wanted to ask staff coordinators in LTC how they started, did you get training? Did you take over for someone else with a program set up and you changed and tweaked it? Or was there nothing and you had to start from scratch?
Trust me I would be thrilled to just have a staff job, but the Staff developement job has me interested. I have LTC experience, but not SDC
Any info, advice or what to ask when I interview would be great

I was hired by another educator, but she was not board certified. I learned a lot in my graduate program (MSN-adult education) and thru the cert review course. I recommend you join National Nurse Staff Development Organization for good resources (www.nnsdo.org). Get a copy of standards for nurse educators from ANA (www.nursingworld.org). Changes occur frequently depending on business plan of your facility, rrequirements by governing bodies (JC, OSHA, etc), new equipment and needs of your staff. I guarantee you will not be bored.
