    The University of Lynchburg is a private, non-profit institution that is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), founded in 1903.

    Nursing Major Admission Requirements (not all inclusive)

    The University of Lynchburg requires all freshman and transfer students to take the TEAS.  The student must obtain an overall score of 60% or higher with at least 50% in the four major sub-sections: Reading, Science, Math, and English. Students seeking a second degree are not required to take the TEAS exam.

    Additional Requirements (not all inclusive)

    1. Complete CHEM 127, MATH 222, HP 270, and PSHC 241 with a minimum grade of 'C' or higher
    2. Minimum overall 3.0 GPA at the end of the spring semester of the freshman year
    3. Minimum 3.0 GPA in a prerequisite course by the end of the spring term
    4. TEAS exam must be completed in the spring semester of freshman year
    5. CPR
    6. Criminal history background check
    7. Drug screen

    Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

    The University of Lynchburg Nursing program adheres to The Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Courses throughout the program are a combination of liberal arts and sciences.

    Individual teacher and student encounters utilize technology to provide both individual and group learning experiences.  Students have opportunities to apply learned theory and research to effectively function, with diverse populations, in a variety of nursing roles.

    This broad range of study options helps to prepare students to go forward and practice nursing from a scientific, holistic, and caring foundation.

    Second-Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing

    This is an accelerated nursing program for individuals who currently hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a field of study other than nursing. It allows students to earn a BSN in less time then the Traditional BSN track. The program begins each year during the first summer session in May.

    Master of Science in Nursing - Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) (online)

    The University of Lynchburg School of Nursing offers an online Master of Science in Nursing program that specializes in developing Clinical Nurse Leaders who can go forth and effect change within the healthcare system.

    • Complete the application through Nursing CAS
    • Submit all official transcripts to Nursing CAS
    • Three Letters of Recommendation

    • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse License in the United States
    • Successfully completed undergraduate courses in Statistics and Health Assessment with a grade of 'C' or higher
    • Current CPR certification and health records
