Nursing Laboratories

The nursing laboratories at NIU provide students with the opportunity to put their critical thinking abilities and academic learnings into action through real-life scenarios, from practicing basic skills to conducting head-to-toe assessments.

The Skills Lab is equipped with five simulated beds, complete with mannequins capable of reproducing lifelike blood pressures, pulses, and lung sounds. After each scenario, students engage in reflective learning in a safe and supportive environment. The lab includes adult and pediatric mannequins as well as a birthing mannequin.

The lab is staffed by faculty and graduate assistants who are always available to help. It also contains equipment, books and journals available for student use.
