Founded in 1957 as Central Florida Junior College, the College of Central Florida has grown substantially over the years. Originally established to serve Marion, Citrus, and Levy counties with just 320 students, it expanded by merging with institutions like Howard Junior College to broaden its educational offerings. As it transitioned into a four-year college, it focused on meeting the higher education needs of its community, particularly in the absence of a local state university. Among its diverse academic programs, the Nursing program is notable for its innovative approach to healthcare education, utilizing state-of-the-art training equipment and the latest methodologies to prepare graduates for successful careers in nursing.
Hands-On Learning Experience
The College of Central Florida Nursing program utilizes state-of-the-art training equipment and the latest healthcare methodologies to ensure that graduates are well-prepared to enter the workforce as top-notch nurses. All nursing programs are limited access. Attending an information session will assist students in the application process, and it is required before applying to any of CF's nursing programs.
Mode of Learning
The Paramedic-to-ADN Bridge program, offered at the Ocala Campus, is an intensive option that begins in January and finishes in December, enabling students to earn an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing within one year.
The LPN-to-ADN Bridge program is tailored for motivated, Florida-licensed LPNs who want to transition to registered nursing. This full-time program spans three semesters, or one calendar year, and starts in May.
The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program is a traditional in-person course that takes two years to complete.
The RN-BSN program offers flexibility with two tracks: a full-time track that can be completed in three semesters and a part-time track that takes four semesters.
NCLEX-RN Pass Rate
In 2022, students enrolled in the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program at the Lecanto campus achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate. Meanwhile, their counterparts at the Ocala campus also performed admirably, securing an 86.21% pass rate. This data highlights the effectiveness of the nursing education programs at both campuses, showcasing the commitment to excellence in preparing students for their nursing careers.
Admissions at the College of Central Florida
The RN to BSN, Paramedic-ADN Bridge, LPN to ADN Bridge Nursing, and Associate Degree Nursing programs are all limited access. This means that admission and course registration are restricted to a certain number of students who meet specific criteria. This approach ensures a high standard of education and individualized learning experiences for students.
