Founded in 1927 as an extension of Alabama State College, Bishop State Community College has a long history of providing quality education, evolving to meet the needs of students and the nursing profession. Today, it offers a comprehensive Nursing Program that is both rigorous and rewarding.
Nursing Programs at Bishop State
1. Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program
This fast-paced, full-time night and weekend program awards a certificate in Practical Nursing. Graduates may be eligible for the NCLEX-PN upon approval by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
2. Associate in Applied Science (AAS) RN Program
A fast-paced, full-time program that prepares students to obtain an AAS degree and enter the labor market directly. Graduates can apply for RN licensure through a state board to complete the NCLEX exam.
3. Career Mobility Nursing Program
Designed for those with a PN or Paramedic background, this program awards an AAS degree upon completing the NUR209 and above curriculum, allowing LPNs and Paramedics to become RNs.
