Schools for remedial courses

Published

I'm in the process of APRN licensure with the Texas BON, and they found deficiencies in my RN education — specifically in Adult Med-Surg, Psychiatric, and Geriatric Nursing theory and clinical hours.

Does anyone know of schools or programs in Texas where I can take only these specific remedial courses (not a full degree program)? I've been searching but haven't found any options. Any recommendations or experiences would be appreciated!

Hi. I'm on the same boat, have u found any school or program that offers Gerontology course only?

No, actually I found where to take the other two but no that one 😞

So how did it go as far as the Texas License application? I am applying for RN LICENSE endorsement in texas, I just heard back from them stating I am deficient with 28hours Geriatric/Gerontology theory and 2 hour Geriatric clinical.

They did not say I was short on those hours 5 years ago, the APRN department is different than the RN department, hopefully they don't ask for those hours for my RN, so far my RN license is active.

I have an active Fl RN and Ny license and was not told that I am deficient as well, I did the registration 8 years ago. And so when I applied for Tx RN license endorsement I have to do the cgfns ces again and that's when they issued the report to the txBON that I am deficient. ☹️

Would you share the name of the school please?

Hi, Is there an update on this? Have any of you found a school?

Nope, have not. Feedback from colleges and universities- they don't offer individual course, it's included in the nursing program.

Are you talking about clinical hours or theory hours specifically?

do you think the theory hours could be done online? For example I saw on NetCE that you can choose some courses and register with a temporary license, I wonder if they would count as a remedial courses.
Let me know if any school gets back to you, I have been emailing multiple colleges with no luck, I wonder what the next step is, getting the hours done in my country is simply not an option.

Can you please share where you are going to be taking the courses?

Hi Juanita, can you share where to take the other courses? I am going through the endorsement from NY to Texas BON and I have been found deficient in maternity and paediatrics. I haven't found any courses in Texas that would address the deficiencies only. I just found a course in California that does it, but it has to be Texas approved so they won't accept it. I would appreciate your input! Thank you
