I've got a pretty long break, and want to keep up my studies on my own. I find I retain a surprising amount of information when I listen to podcasts while doing stuff around the house. Savage Love can be fun, but the callers are frequently unlistenable and it's not actually terribly helpful anyway.
Can anyone recommend science podcasts or audiobooks? I'm looking for FREE material with decent content (no five minute powerpoint readings) and production values (minimal sniffling and shuffling in the background). I'm especially interested in:
Micro- and molecular biology
Physiology
Nursing theory and practice
Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics
Advances in neuroscience and mental health
Thanks for helping me not feel bored and stupid!

Good day:
Check out iTunes University; just search on the topics you are interested in learning more about. I'm watching a lecture right now on the nervous system (which will be the first system we cover in A&P II this coming January).
Thank you.
I found iTunes U to be of variable quality. Which A&P series did you choose? How are you liking it?
I just downloaded 25 hours of an Australian series on Microbio with Patho & Pharm; it's a survey course geared to undergrad nursing students. Lots of dead air, but the room is quiet and the accent is enjoyable. I found it at podgallery.org
The course is titled BIOL 260: Human Anatomy. It includes video lectures that use Power Points and a few PDF hand outs. I didn't listen to any yet, but I also subscribed to BIO 211 Human Anatomy from the University of Wisconsin as well as BIO 221 Microbiology from David Wartell of Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC). HACC is where I am taking my prerequisites.
So far the Human Anatomy class has been going well. I've been focusing on the nervous system, nervous tissue as that is where our A&P 2 professor will start in January (I was blessed to get most of the syllabi for my spring classes prior to the end of the fall semester).
Thank you for sharing about podgallery.org; I'll check it out.
