Hi everyone! I am hoping to get this thread active. I applied for SCF's nursing program starting in January.
If there are any former nursing students that went & graduated from SCF, feel free to comment your experience at SCF. Anyone else, please comment below with your GPA & TEAS scores... Good luck to us all :)

I can't apply until next spring (for Fall of 15) but I keep searching these boards hoping for an idea of what type of GPA I have to have to get in! I'm in A&P I right now and with working full time and a family I feel like I"m going crazy trying to make the A it seems like I HAVE to have in this class.
Anyway, good luck!! I'm hoping to hear that lots of people got accepted for spring!
KR14
I applied for Spring '15 last week too! My GPA is a little low (3.14 for the main pre-reqs), but my overall GPA is good and I have completed all classes (and then some). My TEAS scores were pretty good- I studied a lot and ended up getting 88.1% in Reading (92 percentile rank for program), 80.0% in Math (73 percentile rank in program), and an 86.7% in English & Language (96 percentile rank in program). This was much better than the last time I took the TEAS : ) Good Luck to us all!!!! : )
Hi guys! I have been SO busy that I just couldn't find time to reply. Anyways, thanks for writting back! @hmowry I absolutely loved API (got A's in both lab and lecture) however APII is a different story. Lol I struggled so much with AP 2- but I ended up with a B and C Good luck to you!
@kreiter14 nice TEAS scores!!! I studied for about 3 weeks & my scores were Reading: 78.6, Math: 73.3 & Eng Lang: 70. My prereq GPA is 3.2 & my overall is 4.0. I have heard from several people that SCF is not as competitive as it used to be soo hopefully the odds are in our favors.
@temmymano - I'm working my butt off in A&P I and I find it fascinating. It's SO hard, but so far I have an A. Is A&P II more on the physiology side? We just started muscles, and it's so much harder than what we've done so far!
My undergrad GPA is good, but not perfect, and I'm working full time while I do these pre-reqs, so I'm completely stressing about the grades. I hope you're right about it not being as competitive as before!
Did you guys do all of your GenEds before applying, as well? I want to apply this spring, but I'll only have the pre-reqs done, not the gen-eds, and I heard having them done really helps your chances.
Good luck to you all!
@temmymano: I heard that it wasn't as competitive either - especially the Spring semesters. I went to the info session and they said the Spring semesters usually have a lower amount of people that apply (One of the SCF advisors said that they have even had to extend application deadlines before because they didn't have enough applicants at one point!)
@hmowry- I personally enjoyed A&P 2 more than A&P 1 - it is more about learning the body's organs, arteries, functions, etc. than it was in A&P 1. If I remember correctly, we dissected a heart and kidney in there too. I also had all gen ed and prereqs completed before applying, but like I said above, the advisor said they have had instances when they were accepting applicants who didn't have everything done (in terms of classes) because there were not enough applicants. So that could play in your favor possibly..... : )
I thought they would be letting us know on Friday since the 18th is on Saturday, but I got the email yesterday that they will let you know Saturday if you got in and that Orientation is next Thursday...! Keep on prayin! : )
@hmowry- You got this! In my opinion, AP2 was more HOW the systems function. For example, what chemicals and/or hormones help the lung expand so you can breath & how/what/when those chemicals or hormones are released. Sooo..it was more in depth & more detailed. More confusing. LOL as for the geneds, I heard that too but if you don't get in the first time you can always reapply after you get most of them done.
@Kreiter14- I work with someone who lives right across the main campus & she said that last fall they had to advertise their open seats bcs not enough people applied. I haven't been able to attend an info session since I live about 1.5 hrs away & I work but I have emailed Darner 1000xs. Lol
I got my acceptance letter! I will be going to the Venice campus : )
I got the email a couple of hours ago : )
Yay! I forgot my password for this. I did not get accepted to SCF but i didnt get accepted to my first choice school. yippy! Good luck!!
I know this thread is a year old, but can anyone tell me what the application entails? It's not up until September 1st and I'm curious if I will need a letter of recommendation or to write a personal essay or anything.
Thanks!
