Hi all,
I just graduated nursing school in June. I sit for my boards on the 2nd of Aug. I will be an LPN God willing! Heres the thing, I found my dream job! it is at a cardiology eecp clinic with one of the leading eecp doctors in the nation! it is mon through friday 730 to 330 no weekend or holidays. The money a little more than I asked for on my application! a GREAT job for a single mom of a young child! THANK GOD. but here are my fears, I start the job the day after boards, what If I fail boards how embarrassing would that be. and the job just seems too good to be true. I am scared I will not remember anything I learned. I feel stupid! Thank goodness I loved all my cardiac stuff and do well in that area, but I just feel like wow thats so scary that I am going to be THE nurse. Anyone else SCARED out of thier minds and any suggestions on how to deal? Thank you all
-Jami, soon to be lpn!!!!!!!

1) breathe
2) remember that you passed your program!
3) don't plan for failure-plan for success
It is scarey-I graduated on May 18th, and took my NCLEX-RN may 24. I was pretty freaked, but I passed. You just have to remember that everything you need to know was likely taught to you in school. The thing that really healped me was the fact that my school had a 98.5% first try passing rate. So, I figured that since I made good grades, I should pass.
You need to have faith in yourself, school was probably harder than the test will ever be. Another thing that helped me a bit was many nurses telling me-"you'll feel like you failed it when you leave"-and I did, but they had prepared me.
on a practical sense, review your notes, and find a good NCLEX book, and practice questions. I did about 3,000. BUT don't overdue-take breaks where you don't study-I started to get burned out, and my practice scores dropped, so I didn't do any questions for about 4 days before my test. Think about your own study style and work with that. The big thing to remember is basics- "keep them breathing, keep them safe" (they taught us that in our NCLEX review class).
Your job sounds wonderful, and remember also, for them to hire you and give you the salary above what you expected, they saw something in you, and I doubt they'd have an issue if you had to test again-but I bet that that will not be an issue. It sounds like you have so much going for you-to get through school as a single mom shows a lot of hard work and dedication. Please just slow down, don't worry yourself-it's just another test, and you've done lots of tests. You can do this! Let us know-
