San Francisco State University (SFSU) Entry Level Master of Science in Nursing (ELM) Fall 2024

Published

Hi! I wanted to start a thread for SFSU ELMSN applicants for fall of 2024. I'm actually a current student who began the program in fall 2023 and wanted to provide a place to answer any questions applicants might have about the program. Our application cycle didn't have any connection to those further along in the program than us when we applied, which made it difficult to find information. So please reach out with any questions, concerns, or to connect with other applicants!

Hi! Thanks for starting this forum. It looks like my application was verified and is now under review so now its just the waiting game. How are you liking the program so far?

OMG thank you so much. My application has been verified now it's just the waiting game which is killing me. How long before they send out acceptance letters because I tried looking every and I found no information ℹ️

I think they make their decisions around mid/end of April according to past forums! It's going to be a long wait ??

No problem. I'm really enjoying it! Classes are interesting, it's reasonably priced, and professors are good for the most part.

I chose public/community health, but I did so strategically knowing it would give me the best chance of getting in based on my experience. I might change because I'm interested in critical care, and you're able to change once actually in the program.

Ahhh that's really smart!! And you're able to change within the semester? Or you have to wait till the end of the semester to be able to switch? Is the process to switch really easy?

I haven't spoken to my advisor about it yet, so I'm not familiar with the process. You're on the same track as everyone else the first 3 semesters (I'm only on my 2nd) so it doesn't really matter until you're about to start your 4th semester. But it seems pretty easy to do.

Does anyone know what the average cohort size is for this program?

There are 20 students in each cohort.

Thank you! Was there an interview process when you applied?
