San Diego CNA Training

Published

Hello,

I am trying (somewhat desperately) to find a CNA program to start in January. Most are full. Does anyone have any suggestions of colleges/private places to obtain this training? Thanks!

Hello there, I don't know if you found a CNA program yet but there is a school here in SD called International Health Grp School of Nursing. They have a CNA program that starts on January 11th and it's a 24 day accelerated course so you would be finished on February 20th and on the 25th day you will sit for your state exam. The program costs $1,800 and they have the clinicals at the Lifehouse Health Services in Kearny Mesa.

oh and I forgot to add- they are accredited by the CA Dept. of Health Services and they only allow 15 students per course so if you're interested I'd get in touch with them soon but so far they still have open seats.

Thanks for the info. I've decided to wait until the summer to take my CNA but I'll look into the program. Thanks!

Mira Costa College has an EXCELLENT CNA Program. I took mine there a year ago and I learned a lot. I had the same problem - it was full when I wanted to enroll. I just kept checking the website (over and over) until somebody dropped the course or was dropped due to non-payment. Also, if you get there really early before class the teacher will drop the students who don't show up and take the crashers on a 1st come, 1st served basis.

The tuition is only $21 per unit. You can't beat that!

That's awesome info. Thanks guys!

I just registered with Poway Adult School and will be taking their summer-fall CNA program! They said they can usually accommodate everyone who wishes to attend because they are less known than the programs here. Thought I would pass along the info.

I live in san diego as well and i know how frustrating it is trying to get in to a cna class it took me almost 2 years to get in one

If you are under 26 you can go to job corp its free and NO you do not have to live there they even give you 1200.00 when you leave thats where i went and got my cna ( its in imperial beach) (They always have openings)

You can also go to san ysidro adult school but you have to take health care essentials first which is also at the same school and you have to score a reading test above 550 then they put you on the wait list

Also southwestern college in otay mesa (by the otay mexican border)(Not the one in chula vista!) You go and fill out an application then they give you a date to come back which is like 3 months later and a big group of people show up and they call out names of people who are accepted in the program (I went once and they called 30 people out of maybe 200 ) And if you dont get called they put your name on the list again.

You can check out grossmont college i have never been there so i dont know much about it

Also in downtown sd across the street from city college i think its called ROP they have a cna class 619-388-4619

Stay away from kaplan pima all those commercial schools they are way to expensive i went there just to see what it was about and they wanted to charge me 39,000 for cna
