San Antonio RNs

Published

Hi,

I am in the San Antonio area and am interested in pursuing a nursing career. Before I make the leap, I would really love to interview RNs in San Antonio to find out what you love/hate about nursing, how your career has progressed, what is a typical day like for you, etc. I would especially love to be able to see an RN in action if possible.

Specializes in ICU, CV-Thoracic Sx, Internal Medicine.
Hi,

Hi Cat.

There is a vast amount of different work settings and roles a RN fills. Let me begin by briefly touching on different jobs that RN's do.

1. Hospital clinical role(bed side care, this includes O.R., E.R., ICU, etc)

2. Hospital non-clinical (infection control, educator, employee health, case manager, etc. this is a Mon-Fir 8-5 job)

3. School Nurse (summers off )

4. Clinic nurse (dr's office)

5. Case manager through an insurance provider

6. Sales rep (drug or product)

7. Education (nursing instructors -- everything from RN at a PhD level to CNA certification exam)

I am leaving plenty out but you get the idea. The important thing to ask is what kind of setting do you like? Is it a clinical setting or non-clinical setting? Which ever you choose, be aware your' training will extensively cover the clinical portion.

Hopes this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
