Roy's adaptation theory stimuli

Published

Hello all!

I have always had a really hard time with care plans and now we working on the Roy adaptation model and I can not seem to grasp the stimuli. I have read the chapters and even looked it up online and can not seem to find anything that dumbs it down enough for me to comprehend it....I even searched for Roys for Dummies..that doesnt exist.

One of our case studies was about a pt with lower back back for two months from doing yard work. He is slightly overweight and has a job where he sits for long periods of time.

here is what i came up with for the stimuli:

Focal: Continued lower lumbar pain from trauma

contextual:working in the yard and sitting for long periods of time

residual: deficient knowledge of proper mechanics to protect back.

I have no idea if those are correct or not. I am so frustrated over this lack of comprehension! Could you throw some examples out there for me?

Im guessing no one knows how to dumb this down?
