I've spoken with the office manager and receptionist about this , neither one can wrap their heads around the fact it us up to my discretion if I see a walk in depending on my pt load and the acuity. Last week I was scheduled to leave early for a CT, and the receptionist told me there was a mom calling to get her child seen for a sore throat and low grade fever. This was 5 minutes before I had to leave. I told the receptionist I would not be able to see the pt due to my own appt. And since I did not know this pt I was not calling in a abx I suggested some things and if no improvement to seek care . Today i was told that I was being difficult. The child had just started with the sx that morning, was I being difficult or unreasonable , I don't think so.Just curious what role does your office manager play in decide what patients you see
