RN's thinking about Med School?

Published

I just was curious how many nurses out there have considered going for medical school. I recently graduated with BSN. When I first started college, the last thing I ever would have thought I would end up doing is nursing. My mom is a nurse pracititioner and I never really was that interested in it. Nursing just kind of came along and I "fell into" it. Don't get me wrong though, I know I'm in the right field. I love working with patients, I feel good at the end of the day but I have always dreamt about pursuing a medical degree. So here I am, 23 years old as of last month and I am wondering if I am crazy thinking about going back to school. It's hard to talk to my fellow colleagues about this...as I feel that I am kind of backstabbing the profession. Whether anyone wants to admit or not, I really feel like there is a definite tension between physicians and nurses. Anyway, the bottom line is...I would love to hear from others who many be in the same boat. Or anyone's thoughts for that matter.

I just graduated in May and for the last year or so have been really thinking about going to medical school. When I started nursing school I thought, I'll just do this because I don't want to go the extra 4 years. I almost wish now that I'd just sucked it up and done it. Don't get me wrong, I like working with my patents and the staff are great, but I really enjoy the medical patho/pharm aspects. I often wonder what it would take to get into med school...
