Clinics such as Sharp, Kaiser or Scripps

Help!! I am trying to get myself in one of thEse hospitals and I just couldn't get any luck to get an RN position... So I am thinking of working in the clinic side for a while which atleast would give me a better chance of getting hired as an internal candidate..

Is there anybody here that currently works in one of these clinics as an RN?? Any thoughts??

I hate to bear the bad news, but most clinics won't hire new grads--they want experienced nurses, because a clinic is not the place for them to teach you Nursing 101. Also, the facilities you mentioned have new grad programs, and so rarely hire new grads into any other positions, if at all.

You could definitely try applying for clinic jobs because you have nothing to lose and you never know...however I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I am no new grad though.. I have been working for 3+ years in a rehab unit non-acute setting.. So basically like everyone else-- i am stuck in this position where i can't qualify for new grads or even on a regular RN position jobs...

Would u know if clinics like these even hire RNs??

Ah, that does change things...from your other posts, I thought you were a new grad. Guess I got the wrong end of the stick--my bad.

A lot of the listings I see are usually for LVNs, but they have some RN listings.

You may have a decent chance of getting into clinics at these organizations: even though you don't have acute care experience, you do have nursing experience which could help you get you in. Only way to know for sure is to apply--I would contact the nurse recruiters/HR of these organizations and see what they have to say.

Now whether you could transition from clinic RN to floor RN, I don't know. Yes, getting into one of their clinics would make you an internal employee which might help. The question is whether they'd consider the clinic experience as acute care/comparable experience for the position.

Best of luck.

Great!! Thanks for some insights!! I apoke to the talent manager and she said that they actually consider nurses from clinic side... now... I have to look for job openings then! Hah! Or else-- i have to move out of state and see what's in store for me :(
