RN-Significance of your graduating school

Published

Hey all, I was just wondering if anybody already working as an RN knows how significant it is to graduate from a ranked university (job offerings, salary, etc.) I'm at UT Austin right now and was wondering if there is any real difference between graduating from here compared to smaller or lower ranked universities. Thanks!! :)

New Grad (December 2010) and I didn't notice any difference in the University you go to. The only major contributing aspect of my university is that it had Psych Clinicals where I wanted to work, and so I got a lot of face time with the managers of that facility, which made me a shoe in for hire once I graduated.

Other than that, it seems they are only looking at your title. RN,BSN. That's it. They don't care about your GPA, or the school you went to (in my experience). More so about how do you present yourself. Are you on time? Do you have good references? What did your resume look like? How much time did you spend in the clinical setting that you are applying for in class/clinical? That sort of thing.

thanks mashira. that definitely helps a ton. good luck to you.
