RN seeking best unit/campus at Florida hospital

Published

i am currently employed by florida hospital. i am turning to you--all my nursing friends that are also employed by florida hospital--to find a new unit to call my happy home! i would like to hear from both rns that either hate :crying2: or love :redpinkhe their job so as to avoid units that are not enjoyable to work on and discover units that share most of the following characteristics:

1. physician staff that respect the nursing staff. meaning the phycians and nurses work together, sharing ideas  to do what is best for the patient. if the doctor wants to consult a specialist--he will call the specialist and communicate with that particular doctor in regards to the situation. if a doctor wants to discharge a patient, he/she will know from all standpoints (including any consults point of view) whether or not it is safe for the patient to be sent home. once there is an order to d/c the patient, i as the nurse am confident that the patient can be discharged home (without having to make additional phone calls).

2. all charting is on the computer. no more written doctors orders or clinical notes! :yeah:

3. decent nurse : patient ratio. you feel that your license is safe at your job (you can come home without fear of your license being suspended because of things at work beyond your control). :D

4. there is a high probablility that if a nurse wants to pursue a higher degree in nursing that he/she will be reimbursed for part or all of the tuition cost. :anpom:

5. decent tech : patient ratio. techs have good relationships with the nurses and vice versa. they work together as a team to accomplish excellent patient care.

6. paid holidays even if you aren't working the holiday. time and a half if working the holiday. :hrnsmlys:

7. fair scheduling process (including requesting time off). :hpygrp:

i would like to say :tku: in advance for any input you might have in regards to my search for a new place to call home as a rn :nurse: at florida hospital.

Its in some unionized hospital in california. I don't know if anywhere in Florida can met those criteria.
