For the experienced nurses who have recently gotten a new job, did you tailor your resume and tailor a cover letter to the job posting? I've dedicated hours on tailoring resumes that reflect the job posting and writing super professional cover letters (so time consuming) but my friend just got hired today and has had interviews for other jobs.
I learned from her that she doesn't ever upload a cover letter, her resume is a page and half long with job experiences as far back as 2007 not related to nursing and she never tailors her resume to the job. She just does a general summary for each work experience and therefore is able to quickly apply to jobs instead of seeing a job post and then dedicating time to edit her resume plus write a letter.
Now I'm feeling like I'm overanalyzing and wasting time.
Hiring managers and recruiters, do you look at the cover letter?
