Hi all, new here to the board. Can anyone give me some pointers on an RN Residency program? I have been an RN for 10 years but live in a small town with minimal specialty opportunities. I am moving to Georgia, post hurricane Irma and am thinking of applying to an RN Residency program, mostly so that I can be trained in a specialty area, but am curious if anyone has ever done this as a "seasoned" (more like well marinated ;-)) nurse? Thoughts??

My understanding is that most residency programs are for new graduates who do not have experience, as someone with experience you will likely not qualify. There are some hospitals that offer "transitions in practice" (or similar title) type programs for nurses who have experience but want to switch to a new specialty - this is probably what you are looking for.
