RN for on call relief ALF

Published

:balloons: I've been approached by a ALF RN re: a position for on call relief at a local ALF. This position would include carrying cell phone/pager and answer questions from staff. I'd like to take this position but feel I may need to do some negotiation for pay. I have 7 years of experience in home health and hospice and feel my telephone triage skills are well defined; this position would be to supplement my income only. I do take call at my current home health and hospice job and we are paid a separate rate of pay hourly for call time with premium call time (hourly plus per visit bonus) for calls out after hours. I don't expect any benefits. My question is what is the current rate RNs with similar experience are being paid for this type of work. My feeling is I should be paid hourly on call rate like $3/hr plus a flat consult fee for each documented phone call. If I have to go to the facility, I should be paid an hourly wage for time spent there. What is the going rate in this field?

Your input would be helpful. :hatparty: Thank you.
