retention of nursing students

Hello everyone! Just wondering if any of you educators have any suggestions or criteria used at your institution to retain or remediate nursing students. Please advise me.

At our school we offer tutoring for nursing courses. This tutoring can be one on one, or with a group of students. We have tracked the outcome of this tutoring for five semesters now. What we are seeing is that the people who really need tutoring do not come. It is the students who are doing well that come - and they do not really need tutoring - they just want encouragment!
