Hello, everyone! I am a soon-to-be nursing student (got my acceptance letter last week!!!) and I am really conflicted as to what to do.
A few years ago, I went to university to try and do nursing. I took nursing-related courses and passed. Just passed. In all honesty, I only went because I felt pressured to do it by family circumstances (Asian family and tons of nurses + people comparing children to each other). I was there because I felt I had to be there. I had no motivation and wasn't really sure if I even wanted to be a nurse. I was just lost. I started dropping classes, failed 2 classes (non-nursing) and the ones I passed, I barely passed. Admittedly, I did not put forth the effort so I wasn't really surprised with the results. Due to low GPA, I didn't even apply to the nursing program at the said university. I dropped out of school completely as I felt I was seriously wasting time and money.
Dropping out proved to be a very good decision for me as I was able to breathe and able to analyze whether I really want to be a nurse. I do. Took 2 years off and then started finishing up my nursing prerequisites and I applied to a different program at a smaller college and ended up getting in for Fall 2016.
Now here's my problem: there are some courses that I have already taken at the first uni that is a part of the nursing program at my current college. Microbiology and Human Development are examples. I have taken and passed these courses, but honestly, I don't think I remember anything from when I took them. It scares me that if I don't retake them, I might fall behind since I believe these are a part of nursing program basics and probably will be used to build up the knowledge for the latter part of the program. If it were just me, I'd retake them, no questions asked. Money is a huge problem, though. I have about 4-5 of these courses that I can skip and it will cost me a lot to retake them. I am still paying for my initial student loan and budget is very, very tight.
Do you think I should just retake them? I don't really want to screw up nursing school. I am short on money, though. How important are theses courses in your honest opinion?
Thank you to everyone that took time to read all of that and I would really appreciate tips and opinions! I also apologize if I messed up grammatically and spelled some words wrong as English is my second language! Feel free to correct my grammar and spelling!

If you don't have the money to repeat them, why not rent some micro a psych books? Try looking up the course descriptions, or get a copy of a syllabus to have a guide on what to go over.
you could try the books that break concepts down easier as well; barrons, incredibly easy, for dummies, etc.
good luck!

You know what, that is actually a very good tip! I think I still have a couple of my old books just not the syllabi. I'll probably ask some old classmates if they still have them. Thank you so much!
youtube is also invaluable, sometimes a video helps solidify the concept.
If you havr a library card your local library system might have some of those books above for you to check out. Easy, free way to learn.
Congratulations on your acceptance as well!
