What does everyone think of these clinics?
Anyone working in one currently?

I don't know if you get the magazine, but Advance for Nurse Practitioners just had an article on this topic. It discussed the turnover rate for NPs in the convenient care setting. It appears that the majority of NPs stay in that clinical setting for 6 mos - 2 years (Ford, 2010) and then move on. You can probably access the article on their Web site.

I don't think I'd want to do it full time, but I know several people who work per diem and it's a nice little addition to the income.

I have been working in a retail clinic for about the past 10 months. I took it as my first job out of school b/c I simply could not find anything else, despite holding out for 4 months after graduation. The pay is excellent, but I have been looking for a new job the entire time I have been here. I did read the article in Advance and feel many of the reasons listed are true. It is monotonous, you see lots of the same things over and over and over, as well as being very isolating working all by yourself. I also feel like I am losing alot of my skill by not using them. I just found a new job, and while the pay is not as good, I think I will be happier and learn so much more. I agree with previous poster that I think it would be a good job if you just worked there prn picking up a few extra shifts.
