Just obtained my RN license. I need to write my resume immediately, but have no idea about how to add my clinical rotation experience. I will appreciate it very much if someone could , kindly, email me a sample resume. I do not, yet, have the pm previledges because I do not have the required number of posts. My email address is [email protected].

hi..did you receive any assistance? could you share? :)

Yes, but not on this board.

Specializes in Maternal - Child Health.

Generally speaking, I would not recommend putting your school clinical experience on your resume.

It is assumed that all graduates of reputable nursing programs have basic clinical experience in a wide variety of areas including OB, peds, adult med/surg, behavioral health, community health, etc. Adding that to your resume does nothing to distinguish yourself from other candidates, as it is assumed that all new grads have these basic experiences.

As a hiring manager, I would much rather see your work and volunteer experience, regardless of whether it is healthcare-related or not. That information tells me about your work ethic, commitment to an employer (or volunteer agency), ability to juggle commitments, work well with others, take direction, be flexible in your assignments, learn and grow in your position, etc. These characteristics are not a given in any candidate, and especially not in a person applying for their first professional-level job. So whether it's babysitting, lawn care, McDonald's, truck driving or working as a CNA, please provide details!

The exception would be to put a clinical assignment on your resume if it is unique and related to the position for which you are applying. Not many RN students get to spend time in the OR. If you had a 6-week OR rotation and want to be considered for an OR position, by all means, highlight that onyor resume. But as for the basic, run of the mill rotations, I don't think it is a good idea.

o ok i see your point..thanks ;)

so where can i access the assistance you received?
