Resources for phone triage?

Specializes in peds, allergy-asthma, ob/gyn office.

Hi, All.

I am and "old" nurse- LVN, but new to the OB/Gyn office... and I have been a SAHM for many years before getting this job. My background is Pedi/Adolescent Pulmonary and Allergy/Asthma. That said, I love this job. There is another nurse orienting me, and my doc is very good with teaching me and being accessible to her patients if they have questions I can't answer. I have been doing lots of reading at acog.com, mayo clinic, etc to brush up on some things.

That said, I want more info on how to handle people on the phone. My preceptor says I will just learn in time. I want some solid information on how to handle various issues with women's health, to not have to run and ask the doc about everything.

I am looking at a book on Amazon.com, but it is $60. Oh wait, just saw that the kindle edition is $37. :) Would you all go with this, or do you have any suggestions?
